Some tools I’ve built because spreadsheets, existing products, or vanilla LLM skills didn’t fit my use cases.
Earnings Summary
I built it to keep up with earnings calls for companies I own or might buy. It became a research dashboard and financial database.
It builds company research reports, financial models, and pre- and post-earnings readouts. The data ties back to source documents. Assumptions and thesis changes only enter the record after I review and approve them.
Portfolio Tracker
It connects to my brokerage accounts and works out what my portfolio actually returned. It matches performance to when money moved, then compares the result with buying the index.
Most apps show returns based on current holdings. That misses how the portfolio changed over time. This gives me the data to judge whether my decisions beat the market.
Angel Memos
It’s a Chrome extension and research pipeline for angel deals. One click on an AngelList page pulls down the deal memo and pitch deck, then starts the research.
It gives me a consistent place to work through diligence, add my own thesis, and turn open questions into research topics. It gets me to an investment decision faster without outsourcing the decision.
Reading Companion
I’m building a reading companion for smart glasses. Tap the glasses or ask about something on the page. It captures the page, researches the question, and reads the answer back while I keep reading.
The repo has the core service and a browser demo. The glasses integration is still being worked out.
Blog Engine
I write in Google Docs, not WordPress. Blog Engine turns my book notes and investing memos into WordPress drafts.
It checks what’s new, formats it, and stops at draft. I still decide what gets published.
Date Suggester
I got tired of making the same “what should we do this weekend?” decision from scratch. It scans our calendars and ranks ideas based on recency, weather, budget, distance, and our preferences.
It emails me a ranked list 1x/week. It also helps plan trips around seasonality, budgets, transit, work conflicts, and booking status.
